Pirin mountain
(highest peak Vihren - 2914m) is the most beautiful mountain in Bulgaria for tourism,
skitouring and winter climbing.The rock is mainly limestone, rarely granite.
The most impressive place for the alpinists is Vihren's north face with his length 400m and there are about ten climbing routes.
Another climbing area is Stupalata (the Steps), 100-220m.
These areas are good for climbing in winter; in summer they are less difficult but more dangerous because of the unstable rock and possibilities of stonefalls.
If you visit Pirin, the tent is not important to carry your tent across the mountains because there are many, and cheep huts.
